A muffle furnace has an externally heated chamber, so that material being heated would have no contact with direct heat. It is utilised for various procedures, such as compact means of creating extremely high-temperature atmospheres and testing characteristics of materials at extremely high and accurate temperatures. The insulated material acts effectively as a muffle, preventing the loss of heat. It is an useful equipment for test proportion of samples that are non-combustible and non-volatile.
