Calcination is a process that subjects a substance to actions of heat without fusing and allows for physical or chemical constitution changes through this procedure. It can also be a thermal treatment process that limits supply of air to bring out thermal decomposition, phase transition and removal of a volatile fraction. Calcining furnaces are made uniquely to suit individual requirement, allowing for almost any product type to be handled with the adjustments in furnace operating parameters. Rotation speed, temperature, tilt angle, tube tpe and atmosphere can be adjusted to fine tune the calcining process. One of the specialisations that can be built is a multi-task calcining furnace that has the ability to change the heating process through the use of interchangeable work tubes.
Calcination furnaces can also be tube or rotay furnaces.
